De Icon Events shut down-GRA

De Icon Events center in East Legon shut down for operating without registration. Ghana Revenue Authority swoop forms part of a series of activities by the authority to clamp down on tax defaulters.

Based on GRA, they took the action after a tip-off that the business has been in operation without registration and therefore not fulfilling its tax obligations.

In clarifying the situation, the Chief Revenue Officer of the Debt Management, Compliance, and Enforcement Team at the GRA, Nathaniel Tetteh said the events center will reopen if management completes the registration process of the facility.

“We locked the facility to force them to register with GRA”, he added.

The facility was found operating without an electricity meter and rather engaged in illegal connection by the electricity company of ghana.

In the meantime, GRA has urged companies and facilities in the country to register with the authority to ensure avoidance of possible shutdown.
