African Skill Hub (ASH), a youth-focused incubator hub that offers a range of capacity building, women empowerment, and advocacy programs On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, held a stakeholder engagement together with its partner Ghana tech lab. The meeting which was held at the premises of ASH in Tamale focused on “the role of e-commerce in transforming the economy for job creation and economic development” through digitizing commerce.
Speaking to Ghana360news, according to the project lead, Miss Sumani Nahima, the aim of this meeting was to bring stakeholders from different pillars together under one umbrella. Further, stakeholders deliberate on digitizing commence and policy recommendations that can contribute to reaching a share value and commitment to create future partnerships with the hub.
At the meeting, Hajia Halima Sagito, Executive Director for SWIDA-GHANA spoke on the potential of new markets by digitizing commerce. She further stressed the opportunities for young people in the value chain by digitizing commerce.
The C.E.O of Navivessil, Mr. Augustine Opoku Adjei highlighted the skills required to satisfy the current digitizing commerce. In conclusion, he made a policy commitment to employ some of the ladies if they prove to be well equipped and skillful after the national base program.
Dr. Arnold Mashud stressed the problems facing the commerce industry. He added “with eCommerce you don’t need a shop to start a business you only go online and upload your products”; he further commented on issues of cybercrime and made some recommendations on how people can protect themselves and products online.
The Dean of students at IBMJ Madam Khadija Samad also made a submission on commerce potential and opportunities. She further advised that systems and structures need to be kept in place to ensure the customer gets the right product or services online.
At the meeting, attendees identified key challenges and possible corresponding solutions to help promote digitizing commence for a digital economy both local and national.
